Park City Vacation
I love ski vacations. I like being active and being outdoors. And spring skiing is perfect because I do not freeze to death haha.
So, I thought I would share some of the highlights from the vacation and tips if you go to Park City!
1. Deer Valley was my favorite mountain. It has so many trail options. There is always a green trail off of every lift... which is helpful when you are in a group so that no one gets stuck on a trail that they can't handle. The people that work there are SO NICE. They have a guide at every map to help you decide the best trail for you. They have a list of trails groomed in the last 24 hours at the top and bottom of each list. And, they have the tastiest food options like pho soup and a buffet that I will talk about later. Most days we made sandwiches and ate them on the chair lifts, which saved time and money. My sister's husband called them "pocket sandwiches," since they would get flattened in our pockets and backpacks haha.
2. The canyons 99-90 was amazingly hard, but worth it. This was one of the hardest double diamond trails I have done. It was very steep and had moguls, trees, cliffs and rocks. Myself and my little sister's boyfriend were the only two that did it. I was definitely scared and my thighs were killing me , but I felt so proud after.
3. The Glitretind Restaurant in the Stein Eriksen Lodge had the best buffet ever! I should have taken more pictures. They had wild game chili, oysters, mussels, salmon, picked herring, tacos, and a million delicious dessert. It was SOOO tasty. Link here https://www.steinlodge.com/glitretind.html
4. I went to the spa for the first time! Stein Eriksen Lodge Spa was soo nice. The massage was exactly what I needed. Everything was so clean and beautiful. They had all these fancy shampoos and lotions. They had a hot-tube, steam room, and sauna. I was definitely stressed about matching for residency and a little sore from skiing. I felt like a whole new person after it. Although... I did get a little bicep tendinitis from the massage (my shoulders took a hit swimming competitively in college), but it is already feeling better.
5. The Firewood restaurant was delicious. It was a little pricey, but there food was locally sourced and delicious and they had a great wine menu. This restaurant my little sister found, so she gets all the credit.
6. Make sure to stop at Artworks Park City. This is the store I got my mug and a cool puzzle. The mug is made by a local artisan, Bruce Larabee. This mug was made for the artist's wife to keep her coffee super hot and allow her to microwave it when it gets cold. Aka... perfect for me and I LOVE the color!
7. Walk to a grocery store and buy food for breakfast, lunches and a few dinners. This saved us so much money. We made bacon and eggs for breakfast, cold cut sandwiches for lunch and one night we had grilled chicken with veggies and another night we made steak. Sometimes after skiing you're too tired to go out, so having some easy dinners will be key. Plus, it saves money.
That's all my highlights and advice. I had a blast!
